Here they are:
Managed to work in time to get them done last night – you probably can’t tell in the picture, but they are a little sparkly. And definitely slut red.
It was a very mundane pedicure, no hot rocks, no cucumber slices, not even any paraffin, which i love, but it did the job. And i got to watch a nature special on crocodiles.
One more day ~ only one more day til Winter Wickedness!! This time tomorrow, i’ll be running around half crazy trying to get ready.
There are other things i need to blog about ~ visit Jumping on In here, please, to learn about Bloggers United for Human Rights and Women’s Reproductive Rights Day. February 15th is a time for us bloggers to speak out on this issue, and i’ll be writing about it soon. But for now, check it out on Sfp’s blog. Please.
And of course i’ll be writing about Winter Wickedness ~ woohoo!!
The other thing on my mind today is some blog posts i’ve been reading that suggest that submissive women are really expressing a need to be treated the way we were back in the 1950’s ~ or at least the way we think it was back in the ’50’s and early ’60’s.
That distresses me. A lot.
That “submission” back then wasn’t consensual. It was a whole different thing… at least i think it was. Maybe your kink is a ’50’s lifestyle, complete with believing women can’t manage on their own, ’cause we’re really incapable of it. When we were sent to college to get our “MRS” and being a teacher was just about the only acceptable career.
Back to the days when a woman wasn’t considered a success unless she had a man. Wasn’t complete as a person without a man. Back when any man was better than no man.
If that’s your kink, fine. It’s your life. That’s not what my submission looks like. And it bothers me when the implication is that this is just a natural state for women.
i think i have more to say on that, but i gotta go take the garbage to the street. Exercise. Get ready for work. Another day… And tomorrow will be here soon!! Woohoo!

Have a great time at WW, can’t wait to hear all about your adventures.

First — thanks for the plug — we’ve got 2 weeks to go until the big blog day — and I’m sure we can all raise our voices and make some waves — hmm — mixed metaphor — but you get what I mean
I sort of look at folks that do the 1950’s lifestyle the same way I so at people who love the Ren Faire thing — it’s sort of the middle ages wtih out all that pesky plague, murder, and rape.
Fun to play with — but we would hate it in reality.
Because — shhh — here’s the secret ya’ll — it’s not submission if you have no choice
it’s subjugation
sfp
@Sfp,
Yes. That’s a really good perspective on the 50’s lifestyle. You’re so right.
And ~laughing ~ yes. Choice is the key.
hug,
aisha
Yes, I completely agree with what you say about it being a matter of choice. Aren’t we lucky to have choices?
@Sin,
YES!!
aisha
yes, and if you lived in the 50’s as a house wife, it wasn’t a matter of choice…it was how it was…and you went along because…that’s what you did.
My mom didn’t learn how to drive until after I left home at 19…hmmm, 1978. She would have been 40.
That’s also when she got her first job out of the house since the year she worked before she married my dad.
There were no other choices…or I should say, there were *some* other choices but not ones that would have suited my Mom….she mom was not a ‘rock the boat, change the world” kind of woman.
If it’s your kink to play at it, or make a go of it for real, that’s fine…but we don’t need to go back to those days, for real. *shudders*
nilla
@’Nilla ~
No doubt! And when you grew up, as i did too, watching your mother cope with those societal pressures and expectations… sheesh.
My mother got divorced, back when no one’s mother got divorced. It was not really her choice, but she managed. I was lucky ~ lots of women handled it a lot worse.
So yeah. No going back.

btw (rant, over)
your toes look fabulous, sweetie!! So glad you took the time to sit and breathe for a while. Heh…last night we watched a NOVA special on a ginormous fossil find at Snow Mountain, Colorado last November….Mammoths and Mastadons and giant Sloths…uber kewl…
And for the record…it’s not just your toes that sparkle …you’re glowing like a star, sis!
nilla
@’Nilla (again)
LOL. Thanks, glad you like the toes! And thanks for the lovely words.
aisha
I’m gonna skip to the ww part. I’m the tiniest bit envious (green as it were). So close, but so far from possible…. I hope you have a blast.
@Greengirl,
Gosh, i wish youall could be there. How cool would that be??? Maybe COPE next year?
hugs,
aisha
beautiful toes 🙂
I need to have “Masters toy” painted across my toes, our friend’s a tattoo artist and just mentioned that they tattooed nails. I couldn’t believe it! I think I’m going to try and get them tattooed really soon. I hate feet but somehow, pretty nails makes them all better hehe.
@MissNaida,
OMG, nail tattoos???? i can’t even begin to imagine ~ o, yikes, yikes, yikes.
i sure like pretty nails too though.
aisha
aisha,
Your toes look wonderful…Really really really need to make an appointment for a pedicure…
Regarding the 1950s thing…It was the time…and it’s truly gone. We can’t turn the clock back anymore than we un-invent a cure for polio. There’s a lot of people that live a victorian lifestyle too…Frankly mouse would hate that.
The one thing feminism has taught mouse is that women can be whatever they choose, i.e., stay-at-home mom, have a career, do jobs effectively that were once consider male fields with just as much success, even take part in alternative lifestyles like M/s or BDSM. Don’t really think our feminist sisters knew they were fighting for us or had mouse in mind when they started Planned Parenthood or later burned their bras. Nonetheless mouse thanks them.
Now there are people who do believe that women are less than males…But they’re generally not involved in any kink and base their reasons on something else.
Hugs,
mouse
@Mouse,
Wise words. i couldn’t agree more. Thank you.
hugs,
aisha
You know for a while felt like I would enjoy the 50’s housewife thing. Not because I wouldn’t be a success with or without it. But I could just live in auto pilot. I wouldn’t have to worry about anything beside getting the housework done. Then I started thinking, what is a life worth if you aren’t living it? More to think on I guess. But it’s much easie when you have decided to just peer in from the outside into the kink world.
Lots of love
Andi
@Andi,
Yeah, i dont’ think it works that way for real anyhow. And i like your “what is a life worth if you aren’t living it?” thought.
Good luck with observing for a while.
hugs,
aisha
I’m thinking about Ward and June Cleaver…. do you think they did kinky stuff after the Beaver and Wally went to bed?
Mick
@Mick,
Well, yeah, of course they did! They were very into spanking. June never wore panties under those pretty house dresses, you know.
