i found out today that my friends’ baby died.
i’ve known them since they were teenagers, the mom and dad, they’re good friends of my daughter, and my friends too, now that they’re all grown. i watched them grow up and get married and have kids. And their baby, who was only a few months old, is dead.
My Sir says we are reminded that life is short and fragile, and so i told him i love Him, because He’s right, it is. Too short not to say it sometimes. It doesn’t matter if He says it back, or even if He loves me.
And then i told my sister too, cause i probably don’t tell her often enough.
And when my daughter has her baby, my grandchild, and moves to Very Far Away, i will try really, really hard not to complain, because really, alive and well is all we really need.
Namaste.
“Life is both sad and solemn. We are led into a wonderful world, we meet one another here, greet each other—and wander together for a brief moment. Then we lose each other and disappear as suddenly and unreasonably as we arrived.”
― Jostein Gaarder, Sophie’s World

I am so sorry. The losses and sadnesses seem to come in a clump and that makes it hard.
Thank you, Greengirl ~ it does seem to work like that. This is actually the third recent loss ~ people who’ve died ~ who my daughter was close to.
hugs,
aisha
So sorry for their loss. No matter the age, when we loose someone to death, it hurts and sometimes makes no sense. Sending healing thoughts to you and your friends.

Thank you, Heather. We can use the healing for sure.

I think sometimes the saddest thing about the death of someone so very young is all the firsts that are lost – words, steps, school days, all the hopes that must have rested on very fragile shoulders. I’m terribly sorry for the loss.
Yes, i think you are so right. It is the loss of all the future first’s, all the could have beens… Thank you, Ms. Constance.
hugs,
aisha

Death is a natural part of life, but the loss of a child does not seem natural. I’m so sorry for your loss, sending lots of positive energy and healing thoughts to you and your friends.
Dear faerie,
It does just seem unfair… Thank you for the positive energy and healing thoughts, i’ll pass them on.
hugs,
aisha
I am so sorry too and when horrible things like this happen- words just don’t seem adequate.
~Hugs~
~faithful
Thank you, Faithful. I know what you mean about words not being adequate, and yet somehow they do help.
hugs,
aisha
*Sits down quietly and offers a cup of tea.
There are some things that words just can’t help. But it does matter that we say how we feel while we can. Because we don’t always get that second chance. And it’s a chance better taken than lost.
Smiling… thank you, Lil. i’ll take that tea.
And yes, that’s a silver lining of loss, isn’t it? That it’s suddenly dreadfully important to me that my loved ones know they’re loved.
hugs,
aisha
No words. Just lit a white candle for you….and the family. Glad you said, and feel, the L-word.
Thank you, Jade, dear. i like the idea of you lighting a candle.
And yeah, me too. The L-word. {laughing….} it’s ok to say it. LOVE!
hugs,
aisha

“Perhaps they are not stars, but rather openings in heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy.”
– old Inuit saying
“It doesn’t matter if He says it back, or even if He loves me.” It doesn’t matter, does it? Love is meant to be given away freely, not hoarded. It ceases to be love if you hold on to it.
O, i like the quote, LM. Thank you.
And yes. Given away in handfuls. Strewn around like confetti {smiling…}
hugs,
aisha
My heart goes out to those poor people. Life is short. Life is precious and you are so right, we often dn’t say I love you enough. or even tell our friends how much we admire them and love them.
L
Thank you, LittleOne, i appreciate the support.
